Winthrop is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty and
inviting public spaces rarely found so close to the urban core. We invite you to
come, to see and to enjoy.

Deer Island Walkway - this magnificent 2.5 mile walk/jog/bicycle path around the very end of the peninsula offers incredible views of the open sea, the harbor islands and the City of Boston.
{picture coming soon!} Fort Heath Park - an attractive and quiet 3.6 acre passive recreation area on a bluff high above the Atlantic overlooks open ocean and much of the North Shore.

Winthrop Beach - a one mile long public reservation is the perfect place for swimming, sunbathing and people watching.

Yirrell Beach - this inviting mile-long family-oriented beach, newly renovated and handicapped accessible, is a well guarded local secret - though visitors are warmly welcomed!

Belle Isle Marsh Preserve - 251 acres of nature preserve; one of the largest salt marshes in the eastern United States and the perfect place to observe birds and other wildlife.
Lewis Lake - a tidal inlet quite close to the Shirley Street business district and the Public Landing is a great place for a stroll.
